Ergadoozy is one of the best spots around when it comes to entertaining children of all ages. This indoor playground first opened their Springfield, IL doors in 2013 in partnership with Ergadoo, a teacher supply business that had already been in the community for well over a decade. The owners quickly realized they had stumbled upon something the community desperately needed. They started to devote most of their attention to expanding the play center. They even added an on-site toy store where you could continue to buy all their original products.
Today, the center does everything it can to encourage creative play for every kid. They have seven distinct play areas with something for every type of explorer. The tot area is enclosed by a low fence, so younger visitors are able to safely play without worrying about the bigger visitors running through. Meanwhile, the older kids are going to go wild over the indoor play equipment. They can race down the slides against their friends or take a spin on the inflatables. There are train tables where your child can decompress, and there are spots for arts and crafts. Additionally, there are plenty of chairs all across the rooms, so you can watch your child while staying comfortable.

While Ergadoozy might be my top pick for Springfield, IL families with older kids, Fireside Cafe is the better indoor playground when you have toddlers and preschoolers. There’s a good chance you already know the spot even if you’ve never heard of it before. This coffee shop is located inside Westside Christian Church and remains open from Sunday through Thursday. You can swing by and enjoy favorites like caramel macchiatos, cold brews, and lattes. Meanwhile, kids can order smoothies and hot chocolate.
As you sit back and savor the sweet taste of caffeine, your child is going to have the best time. This space is seriously impressive with climbing walls, winding slides, and plenty of room to run around! While I think this spot is great for kids ages 7 and under, it is best suited for toddlers and preschoolers. The ladders are perfectly sized for younger explorers, while the tunnels are ideal for a quick game of hide and seek. And because the floor is padded, you don’t have to worry about your child getting hurt if they take the slides a bit too fast.
While all these factors would be enough to sell most families, I think the layout is what puts this playground above the rest. They feature a seating area behind plexiglass where you can sit and drink your coffee while chatting with friends or getting work done. All the while, you will be able to see your child and make sure they are enjoying their time just as much as you are!
Calvary Church Play Zone

Calvary Church of Springfield, IL, also has an indoor playground that your child is going to love! Each Monday and Wednesday, this church opens up their doors to people outside of the congregation. So they can also enjoy the fun. Across the 464 square feet, your child is going to find so many ways to play! There are two slides, a tangle tube maze, roller squeezes, and a power ball room. They even have a special zone created just for toddlers! The center was created specifically to give kids ages 1-11 a safe spot where they can play with all their friends. The best part? Admission is absolutely free!
If you do decide to try this spot out, there are a few things they ask you to remember. First of all, your child must be checked in before entering. To do this, all you have to do is create a free account through their website. From there, you should be golden. Secondly, socks are a must! That said, the center does have socks available for a dollar in case you forget yours at home. Lastly, as you might expect, they have a strict sick policy to ensure your child can have the best time without bringing home any new germs.
The center regularly opens up for additional activities, and they let you rent out the space for your child’s next birthday. With this center, your playtime is about to be leveled up!
