What Is Montessori Schooling?
Marie Montessori was nothing short of a trailblazer. For centuries, childhood education was approached with a one-size-fits-all mentality. After years of study and observation, she broke barriers by creating a school called Casa dei Bambini. Here, curiosity was prioritized. Children were placed inside a curated classroom stocked with toys designed to spur their imagination. They were able to ask questions and find the things that interested them the most. As a result, she found an increase in their confidence as well as their self-discipline.
To this day, the Montessori method remains largely unchanged. Kids are able to explore in mixed-age classes and learn on their own terms. Along the way, they learn how to exist within a community. Older kids naturally learn leadership while younger children learn the importance of teamwork. Montessori children tend to be courageous and thoughtful by the end of their tenure. They will also develop skills that will carry them through elementary and beyond!
