Montessori is one of the best learning tools out there. For decades, this method has been raising happy and confident kids by letting them take charge of their own learning. In the process, they build lasting friendships while learning some self-sufficiency. If you have been considering this method for your child but aren’t quite sure of where to start, I would love to tell you all about Montessori School of Peoria! As a Peoria milestone photographer, I get the chance to chat with tons of parents who have found local schools that work for their family. Here is why so many parents have recommended this one!

About Montessori School Of Peoria

4906 N Prospect Road, Peoria Heights, Illinois 61616

Montessori School of Peoria is one of the first of its type in this area! This school first opened its doors in 1977, hosting just twelve Primary students in one school room. Over the years, it has expanded quite a bit, but it still has that same close-knit feel it created in the very beginning. The school sticks closely to the method created by Dr. Marie Montessori, offering carefully designed classrooms that will inspire creative thinking. All of the teachers here are Montessori certified to ensure your child gets the most authentic experience possible!

The Experience

Montessori School of Peoria is ready to be here for the long haul! The school starts with their Primary program, available for kids ages 3-6. Children will be placed in a mixed-age classroom with prepared materials designed to stir up their curiosity. They are going to get the chance to discover, ask questions, and develop self-help skills. There will be long, uninterrupted work periods where they can build up their concentration skills. They will also get the chance to work on their math and language skills while using hands-on materials. These sessions are available both as half-day and full-day programs.

If you do decide you want to stick with this school, your child will move on to Lower Elementary, designed for kids ages 6-9. Here, kids will be able to dive deeper into topics while developing their research skills. They will also learn what it means to exist within a community, collaborating with their peers on projects. From there, they can move to Upper Elementary for kids ages 9-12.

Specialty

One of the newest programs Montessori School of Peoria offers is their Adolescent Program. This was created for kids ages 12-15. It will work alongside your child’s development, helping them build their confidence while learning more about their sense of community. Through this program, your child will have the best assistance for the transition into high school!
